Ronaldo, Messi, Xavi finalists for FIFA player of the year - Washington Times

WASHINGTON, Dec. 5, 2011 - Barcelona teammates Lionel Messi and Xavi Hernandez will do battle with Real Madrid striker Cristiano Ronaldo for the FIFA world player of the year award. The three players, who all star in Spain's La Liga, were chosen as the finalist to win the Ballon d'Or, which is now merged with FIFA's player of the year award to create one trophy. The winner will be announced Jan.
